Perfect for Honeymooners – Layer up the best wedding kimono for a very special photoshoot.
The best Japanese kimono is reserved for weddings. Brides wear an elegant white shiromuku kimono made up of multiple layers. For centuries the color white is believed to symbolize the rays of the sun and white has been used in Japanese weddings since the Heian Period (794-1185). In contrast, the bride and groom wear a very formal black montsuki kimono.
We can arrange a special wedding kimono experience in a machiya, traditional semi-detached house in Kyoto. An assistant will help you put on the kimono, makeup for the bride is also included. Next, it will be shown how to make the vows as in a traditional Japanese wedding ceremony. Professional photos will be taken during the event and presented to you in a take-home photo album. Lunch and a tour of the house are included.
