Skiing among snow monsters on the slopes of Mount Zao
In winter, the slopes of the Zao ski resort are populated not only by skiers and guests, but also by the famous Juyo snow monsters. Heavy snowfall and icy winds passing over a nearby lake see ice form on the trees in curious and intriguing ways. It takes a bit of imagination for them to turn into monsters, but row upon row of natural ice sculptures offer a very impressive sight, especially at night when illuminated.
