For onsen enthusiasts, wear geta sandals and yukata robes to explore the bathhouses of a hot spring town.
Japanese cities blessed with an abundance of hot springs have been turned into onsen resorts. One of the most famous is Kinosaki Onsen, where instead of visiting a single bathhouse, you can spend an entire afternoon immersing yourself in different onsen before returning to your ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) for dinner and sleep. To avoid getting undressed and dressing each time, the ryokan offer guests wooden geta sandals and yukata robes so that they can stroll among the bathhouses of the city.
