Learn the elegant art of traditional Japanese dance complete with a kimono and fan.
The beauty of traditional Japanese dance is its simplicity, but it takes years of practice and training for dancers to effortlessly appear in their movements. For those interested in dance we can organize a private class in a Japanese house in Kyoto with a dance instructor and a translator.
You will first have to find the piece so that your instructor will dress you in a traditional kimono. Although it’s probably more restrictive than your usual dance outfit, the kimono helps with posture and enforces the small, carefully planned movements that the art form is associated with.
You will then learn to walk and properly control your feet, hands, and head while using traditional accessories, such as fans. Your patience and hard work will be rewarded at the end of the lesson when you are able to perform a full dance from a traditional song.
