A three-day celebration of taiko drums, world music, nature, and global culture hosted by the internationally acclaimed Kodo Drums.
Every August, the Kodo Drummers host an annual music festival at their headquarters on Sado Island, on the group’s 25 acres of heavily forested land, as well as in the small towns, shrines and temples of the rural island.
The days are filled with fringe performances, workshops, seminars, and master classes, while the nights bring concerts with Kodo Drummers and guest artists that result in some incredible and unique collaborations. In addition to being a celebration of world music and culture, the festival is a celebration of the island of Sado with the opportunity for guided tours of the island, visiting local markets, bird watching, sea kayaking and hiking.
The Earth Celebration Festival attracts many visitors from all over Japan and the world, so if you are interested in attending please let InsideJapan know as soon as possible to guarantee accommodation or camping.
When to go: The Earth celebration will take place in late August.
