Under this unique name there are actually 6 successive bridges that connect Hoshu Island to Shikoku Island, from Kojima in Wakayama Prefecture to Sakaide in Kagawa Prefecture. It was completed in 1988 after 10 years of construction and an exorbitant budget. More than 13 km long, it rests on 5 islands and consists of three suspension bridges, two oblique suspension bridges and a truss bridge, which represent the technological wealth used in the construction of bridges.
The Seto-Ohashi Bridge spans two levels: the upper level, where the Seto-Chuo highway is located, and the lower level, which share the JR Seto-Ohashi railway line and a general highway. In addition to its normal use as a bridge between the two great islands, it also attracts many tourists and becomes quite a spectacle at dusk or at night due to its lighting.
A 45-minute mini circular cruise allows you to admire the bridge from the sea.
